In many cases, a pipe that is collapsing or forming a “belly” (a low spot where the line sags) shows warning signs long before it becomes a full emergency. Recognizing those early symptoms can help you act sooner—often before water damage spreads or backups become severe.
What “bellied” and collapsed pipes have in common
A bellied pipe has an area that sags downward, disrupting flow. Waste and wastewater can pool in that low spot, increasing the risk of clogs, corrosion, and odor.
